Can you summon a sea serpent in 'Sea of Thieves' on Epic Games to guard your treasure?

Sea of Thieves’ treasure is often stolen by other crews, and a sea serpent guardian adds security. Do you need to place 10 'Sea Serpent Scales' around your treasure chest (collected from defeated serpents) and recite a pirate incantation? Does the summoned serpent coil around the chest, attack any player who gets within 10m, and spit venom that slows thieves?
