Can you summon a sea serpent in 'Sea of Thieves' on Epic Games to tow your ship?

Sea of Thieves’ ships are slow against currents, and a sea serpent tow saves time. Do you need to feed a sea serpent 20 'Giant Fish' (caught in the Deep Sea using a 'Heavy Duty Rod')? Does summoning it let it wrap around your ship and tow it at 2x speed, even against storm currents, and defend against skeleton ships?
