Can you tame a raccoon in 'Red Dead Redemption 2' on Epic Games to find herbs?

RDR2’s herbs are hard to find, and a raccoon companion would help. Do you need to feed a raccoon 4 berries? Does it sniff out rare herbs like 'Yarrow' and 'Indian Tobacco', marking them with a green glow?
