Transferring Switch save data to the cloud (for Switch Online subscribers) protects your progress. First, ensure you’re subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online—cloud saves are a premium feature. Go to 'System Settings' > 'Data Management' > 'Save Data Cloud' and toggle 'Auto-Backup' on. Most games support cloud saves, but exceptions include 'Animal Crossing: New Horizons' and 'Pokémon Scarlet & Violet'. To manually back up a game, select it in the 'Save Data Cloud' menu and choose 'Back Up Now'.
