Playing physical Switch games offline is easy—no internet connection required. Simply insert the game cartridge into the console and turn it on; physical games run directly from the cartridge, so you don’t need to download them. Save data is stored locally on the console or microSD card, so your progress is safe without Wi-Fi. Some games may require a one-time online update to fix bugs or add features, but you can still play the base game offline. For multiplayer, local wireless play works without Wi-Fi—up to 8 players can connect their Switches together to play games like 'Mario Kart 8 Deluxe' or 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'. If you want to play offline for an extended period, ensure your console’s battery is charged, and bring extra cartridges for variety. The only time you need Wi-Fi is for online multiplayer, updates, or downloading DLC.
