Switch Joy-Con Not Responding: How to Fix Unresponsive Controllers

If your Joy-Cons aren’t responding, start by resetting them. Press and hold the SYNC button on the Joy-Con (next to the strap connector) for 5 seconds, then release. Reattach them to the Switch console—slide them firmly onto the sides until you hear a click. If wireless mode fails, try using them in handheld mode to rule out Bluetooth issues. Check the battery level: attach them to the console or charging grip and wait 10 minutes, then test again. Update the Joy-Con firmware: go to 'System Settings' > 'Controllers and Sensors' > 'Update Controllers'. If buttons are stuck, use compressed air to blow debris out from under the buttons, or gently pry the button cap with a plastic tool to clean underneath.
