Switch MicroSD Card Formatting: How to Format for Switch

Formatting a microSD card for Switch ensures compatibility and optimal performance. Insert the card into the Switch’s microSD slot (on the back of the console). Go to 'System Settings' > 'Data Management' > 'Manage MicroSD Card' > 'Format MicroSD Card'. Read the warnings—formatting erases all data—then select 'Format'. The Switch will format the card to exFAT, which supports files larger than 4GB (essential for big games). If the card is already formatted to FAT32, the Switch can use it, but exFAT is recommended.
