The speed of your Switch’s microSD card affects game loading times and performance. Look for cards with a UHS-I speed class and a minimum sequential read speed of 60MB/s—this ensures smooth loading for digital games stored on the card. For graphically intensive games like 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom', a faster card (read speed 90MB/s+) reduces wait times when transitioning between areas. Write speed is less critical for gaming but matters if you take lots of screenshots or videos. Avoid Class 10 or UHS-I cards with slow speeds, as they can cause lag or stuttering. Recommended cards include SanDisk Extreme Pro (170MB/s read) and Samsung EVO Select (130MB/s read).
