Can you build a hideout in 'Red Dead Redemption 2' on Rockstar Games in an abandoned fort near Blackwater?

RDR2’s survival needs historic defense, and a fort hideout fits. Is the fort abandoned after a Civil War battle? Does fixing it up add cannons (for defending against lawmen), a armory for storing weapons, and the fort’s walls are 10ft thick?
